Message from the President
The members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dover Alumnae Chapter welcome you to our web site. As a public service sorority, we are diligently striving to continue the legacy of our 22 illustrious Founders through hard work and dedication to service.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University by 22 courageous and tenacious young women who wanted to focus on academic excellence, community service, and social action. Since our inception, we have grown from Alpha Chapter to 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters worldwide with over 200,000 members.
In April, 1955 twelve visionary young women saw a need in the Greater Dover community to reach out and be of service to others. Today we have grown to 120 financial members throughout the Dover area. We are extremely dedicated women, who will continue to provide services to our community from our National Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
As you visit our site you will see that for 60 years we have been committed to the ideals of our Founders in order to make our Sorority a major force within our communities. Through Delta Sigma Theta's Chapters, its members, and its programs, Delta continues to make an impact on the improvement of the quality of life for all humankind. As a thriving organization, much has been accomplished in Dover, but we still have so much more to be done. With your continued support of our programs and projects we will continue to have a positive impact on our community.
Through the hard work and dedication of our local chapter members, we strive to implement new initiatives established by the organization's national leadership, not forgetting the concerns of the past, but focusing on the future to meet the ever-growing challenges that affect our communities.
As a Chapter, we will always hold on to the belief that, “it’s not about us it’s about our service to others.”
Thank you so much for visiting our website. Please continue to peruse our pages and learn more about our national organization and our local chapter.
