Welcome to the Dover Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated's web site. As a public service sorority, we are challenged to achieve the dreams of our ancestors and the ideals of our 22 founders.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University by 22 courageous young women who wanted to focus on academic excellence, community service, and social action. Since our inception, we have grown from Alpha Chapter to over 919 chapter's world wide with over 200,000 members.
Since the chartering of Dover Alumnae Chapter in April 1955 by 12 visionary young women, we have grown to over 81 financial members through out the Dover area. We are highly dedicated women, who will continue to provide services to our community from our National Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
- Political Awareness & Involvement
- International Awareness & Involvement
As you browse our web site, be reminded of all the hard work and dedication that thousands of women have committed in the name of Delta to make our Sorority a major force within our communities. Through Delta Sigma Theta's Chapters, its members, and its programs, Delta continues to make an impact on the improvement of the quality of life for all humankind. Much has been accomplished in Dover, but we still have so much more to be done. With your continued support of our programs and projects we will continue to have a positive impact on our community.
Locally, we strive to implement new initiatives established by the organization's national leadership, not forgetting the concerns of the past, but focusing on the future to meet the ever-growing challenges that affect our communities.
We welcome you to this web site and encourage you to browse through our pages.
